Mia, Month Eleven

Stats:

Weight:  19.6 pounds
Height: still around 29 inches
Size: 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers
Appearance: Her hair has gotten to the length where the ends are starting to wisp out a little bit, it’s so sweet! I think her eyes have settled on being green. Her hair is still fiery red and getting longer.

Food:

Mia mostly likes to eat “grown up” food. We still do purees occasionally, but for the most part she’s given up on them. Her favorite food right now is probably cheese or anything with cheese on it. She’s also a big fan of bread and pasta. I’ve yet to find a fruit she doesn’t like.

We’ve also tried several kinds of meat and she’s liked them all. All in all, she’s actually a very good eater. There is little that she will flat out reject. She still gets breastmilk three times per day, but only one nursing session. I’m kind of letting her determine how much breastmilk she drinks. She nurses for about 20 minutes in the morning and rarely drinks more than 6 ounces from the bottle or sippy cup.

Her eating schedule is roughly something like this: 7:30 am- nurse, 9:30- purees or yogurt, 12 pm- sippy cup of breastmilk and lunch, 4- snack, 6- dinner, 8 – bottle of breastmilk.

Sleep:

The ‘interruptions’ that she was having during the night have decreased some. She probably only has them about once a week now. She still sleeps 11-12 hours at night. She goes to bed between 8 and 8:30 and wakes up between 7 and 7:30 usually.
Naps are about the same as last month. She generally sleeps 45 minutes-1 hour in the morning and 1 hour-1.5 hours in the afternoon. Sometimes we’ll get lucky and she’ll sleep for 2+ hours in the afternoon, but that’s pretty rare. She starts her naps between 9-10 am and between 2-3 pm.

Milestones:

We finally have another tooth! The top left central incisor broke through a few days ago. I’m pretty sure she’s working on more because she’s still teething pretty badly. She now has three teeth!

She is standing longer unsupported, but still prefers to be holding onto something when she stands.

She’s getting better at eating. She uses both hands, but her fine motor skills seem to be better in the left hand. I’m still leaning towards thinking she’ll be a leftie.

She’s making more sounds that sound like actual words. I’m not sure they are, but it they do seem to be approximations. She says things like ‘yeah’ and ‘nah’. Her favorite word is still ‘dada’ though J.

She has started to develop a little bit of a rebellious nature. She loves to pull on cords, pull things down and make messes. When I tell her ‘no’ about something, she’ll just smile at me and try to do it again.

She is getting to the point where she can play for a little while on her own. She still prefers to have one of us in the room with her, but we don’t have to be directly playing with her all of the time.

She had ice cream for the first time and loved it!

She’s getting less shy about laughing. It’s becoming easier to make her laugh and it’s the sweetest sound when she does J

She knows the signs for 'more' and 'all done' down, though she doesn't quite get them right. 'More' looks just like clapping and 'all done' is usually just one handed. 'More' is her favorite sign... she uses it to mean 'more food', 'more play', 'more holding'. Sometimes she also uses it to indicate when she wants to eat.

She's very monkey-see, monkey-do right now. She'll see us do something and then try doing it herself as well.

She gives kisses... kind of. It's mostly just her slobbering on our faces with a wide open mouth, but it's a sweet sentiment.

Things I want to remember about this month:

She makes the most hilarious noises when she eats. I think this stems from us saying ‘yum yum’ when we feed her. Hers sound kind of like ‘yahm, yahm’.

She loves bouncing and riding on our shoulders.

We went on our first roadtrip to Arkansas to visit Meme and Papa. We had so much fun! She didn’t do all that well in the car, but while we were there she slept really well in the pack-n-play.

Holding still is not her favorite thing. It’s even getting hard to snuggle her, though I do still sneak it in from time to time.

She loves playing with Luna and her friends.

Mia had her first Easter and two visits from the Easter bunny!

Breaking the rules and seeming quite happy about it!

First Easter!

First ice cream!

Road trip to Arkansas!
