Nate, Month 10

Stats:

Weight: just shy of 20 pounds
Height: probably 29ish inches? No idea
Size: 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers
Appearance: he looks and feels much more solid now. He’s getting super heavy to carry!

Food:

We are still able to do some breastmilk. I breastfeed once a day, and once every other day, one of his bottles is breastmilk. I’m not pumping much volume these days, but I hope to at least keep up the daily nursing session until his birthday. We started supplementing with formula, and after several weeks were able to find one he’ll actually drink. He continues to love food. I seriously can’t think of anything we’ve given him that he won’t eat. His favorites
right now are probably cheese, any type of bread/pasta, and blueberries.

Sleep:

Sleep has been awesome this month. I can only think of two nights that he woke up in the middle of the night. One night he had horrible gas because he’d over eaten (of course). Another night, we were traveling and all sharing a hotel room and Mia woke him up several times (more on the trip in the next post!). He sleeps about 11 hours a night. We’re down to 2 naps a day, usually just over an hour each. Sometimes he’ll sneak in a mini third nap in the car on the way to get Mia from school if his first nap was early or too short. He’s gotten on a pretty solid schedule since Mia has started school.

His eat/sleep schedule looks something like this:
7-7:30a – wake up and have milk in a sippy cup/breakfast
10ish – nap
11:30-12:00ish – lunch
1:30-2 - nurse
3-3:30 – nap
6ish – dinner
8-8:30 – milk and bedtime
We have playtime or run errands between eating and sleeping.

Milestones:

We officially have a walker! He started walking about a week after my last post. He still cannot stand on his own when he falls. He’ll crawl to the nearest thing he can to help him get back up. He’s getting pretty fast though. Still a little unsteady, but he’s improving every day!
He has 6 teeth (4 top, 2 bottom).
Nate said his first 2 words this past month! His first word was ‘ba’ (ball) and second was ‘dada’. Still lots of babbling too.
He is still doing well with his signs. He uses ‘more’, ‘eat’, and ‘all done’ the most, but he still does ‘water’ and ‘milk’ some too.
He is definitely starting to test limits. Usually when we tell him “no” about something, he’ll just laugh and keep doing it. He’s all about pulling hair, biting, and messing up sister’s toys.
He’s very playful with everyone (strangers included). He smiles at just about everyone he meets. He loves to be held by the ladies at Mia’s school.
Still prefers to be within eye sight of Jason or I at all times.
He has started his ‘playful’ shriek/scream. And it is loud.

Things I want to remember about this month:

While I can definitely start to see a little bit of toddler rebellion building, he’s still just the sweetest little guy. Unless he’s extremely tired or hungry, he’s very calm and happy.
When I ask him for a hug, he snuggles into my shoulder. He does this a lot when he’s tired too.
His first steps!
His first words!
His first long car ride. We drove down to South Padre for my birthday. Most of the trip was after he turned 10 months, so I’ll discuss it more in the next post. But the drive down was still in month 9. He did better than I was expecting him to being in the car that long!

His favorite things:

Playing with big sister, splashing in the water, ‘chasing’ Mia while one of us hold him, walking, eating, our dogs, any dog, birds, getting into things he’s not supposed to, outsmarting babyproofing, snuggling, video games with dad, peek-a-boo, tickles, Elmo

Things he doesn’t like:

Being buckled in the car seat, when we don’t get him food fast enough, being overly tired, being strapped down in any way, when big sister takes toys away

And now, the pictures!

Relaxing with mom (rare that he'll sit still on my lap these days!)

Breakfast date with mom and dad

Playing in the pack-n-play while mom makes dinner

His favorite thing: eating!
